90's CD Jewel Case Design

90's Type Inspired CD Jewel Case Design
OBJECTIVE
You will be designing an CD Jewel case. You will need to demonstrate an understanding of the 90's type and layout design. You will need to connect a photography student and have them shoot an photo that will support the content of the story and the style of the album design. You may prepare/edit the image by yourself or with the photographer. You will need to display mastery of InDesign (including the use of a grid, professional typography, packaging the final document) It will be important for you to explore principles of design including hierarchy, white space, alignment, contrast, proximity, scale and repetition
SKETCHES
I knew I wanted to somehow incorporate a disco ball into my design as I kind of took the title of the album (The Heist) literally and wanted to make it look like the disco ball was being stolen as part of the heist. I also chose a disco ball because the songs on this album  make you want to dance and sing along; disco balls can usually be found at dances.
TO THE COMPUTER
I started off with adding pictures of disco ball art and reordered them how i wanted them to look for my front cover. I then began adding my letters and distorting them to make them harder to read and more fun to look at.
FINAL DESIGN
For the back cover of my CD case, I reordered all of the disco balls so that each one would have the name o one of the songs on the album. I added a trippy black and white background to sort of compliment yet clash with the disco balls.
Here is my final design. In the upper left corner we have the back cover where all the songs are listed as well as the inside of the CD case where the CD is located. The inside of the CD case is just a simple disco ball to keep with the theme. In the bottom right corner we have the front cover of the album which displays the name and one the spine of the cover states the name of the singers who wrote the album. The plain black and white trippy background is the other inside cover of the CD case and I made it simple as there is a lot going on with the disco balls. This is my final 90's type CD jewel case design.
